A social support group for widowed and divorced women.
At “just us girls” we don’t dwell in the past—we celebrate our future!
From BEVERLY ...
The idea of “just us girls” grew out of my personal experiences as managing partner of JBT Financial, Inc. in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Every week newly widowed and divorced women came into my office seeking financial advice but ironically, I found they needed more than that. They needed emotional support. They need someone to listen and help them create a new life without their spouse. Soon I identified another need: to meet and share with other women in the same boat who understood the challenges they were facing. So, I launched the first “just us girls” in my home in 2007.
The mission of JUGS is straightforward. We gather as sisters who have experienced a spousal loss through divorce, death or other life trauma. Our goals are to emotionally support and encourage each other while learning new life skills that will benefit us in our new life as a single woman.
Our monthly meetings provide exciting opportunities to forge new friendships and learn stimulating new things in a warm, fun-filled environment. Typical meetings of “Just Us Girls” clubs have included programs on:
- Career skill development
- Handling changing relationships
- Money management and investments
- Resume makeovers
- Maximizing your physical energy
- Looking your best
- Networking for Success
- Juggling multiple life roles
- Entertaining skills
